Letter: Weir plans special open house weekend
To the Editors:
As part of National Park Weekend, Wilton’s very own Weir Farm National Historic Site will be hosting a special open house April 18 and 19 from 10 to 4. This weekend also marks the beginning celebration of the park’s 25th anniversary in 2015. Usually the Weir house is open for visitors only on a ranger tour. On this weekend, visitors may just walk in the house and studios and there will be docents and park staff throughout to help visitors enjoy the one-of-a-kind furniture, décor and art.
There will also be an exhibition of 25 contemporary paintings by some of the park’s artists-in-residence in the visitor center.
April 18 is Junior Ranger Day, when kids can do all the activities it takes to earn their own Junior Ranger Badge.
There will be no onsite parking. Please park and ride the free shuttle buses that will be running all day from nearby Branchville Elementary School, 40 Florida Road, Ridgefield (across Route 102/Branchville Road from the new CVS, formerly Ancona’s).
