Letter: Tournament helps give kids 'A Better Chance'

To the Editors:

On Tuesday, May 20, A Better Chance of Wilton (ABC) hosted its 18th Annual Golf Classic to benefit the organization. The weather cooperated, Redding Country Club provided a wonderful venue and refreshments, and we had an excellent turnout for a great day of golf in support of a wonderful cause.

A Better Chance of Wilton (ABC) provides a home and education for up to 14 scholars per year. All the scholars are academically gifted from disadvantaged backgrounds, and they are chosen to participate in the program to give them “a better chance” in life. ABC not only positively impacts these students’ lives, but the program enriches the Wilton schools and our community as well. The organization is funded exclusively by fund-raising events and donations from our community.

We would like to thank the following individuals and companies for their support of A Better Chance and for helping to make our 2014 Golf Classic a success. The hole sponsors for the event included Bankwell Wilton, Danbury Automotive, Diray TV, Ferro & Battey Family Law, McMahon Ford, Ring’s End, Wilton Family Eye Care, Wilton True Value Hardware, and Wilton YMCA. Their financial support ensured the success of the event.

The raffle and auction donors were Jarden Corporation, Village Market, Golf Digest, Take A Peak, CT Coffee, PTP Personal Training Professionals, Christian Gilles, Bianco Rosso, Stew Leonard’s Wine Shop, Wilton Wine Shoppe, and Gregory and Adams.

Please think about joining us next year, enjoying a day of golf, and helping to give these scholars a better chance.
