To the Editors:

Each year, Wilton holds a town-wide clean up for Earth Day. This year it falls on Saturday, April 22, at 9 a.m. Residents are invited to meet at the gazebo in Wilton Town Center to get trash bags, work gloves, and a street assignment for clean up.

Last year, 40 residents showed up to participate out of 17,000 residents in our town. Not great!

If you look at the shoulders of our roadways now that the snow has melted, you’ll see a lot of plastic shopping bags, bottles, old newspapers, and other assorted trash. The Wilton High School Class of 2018 will be up and out that morning to participate in the cleanup this year, and we are asking all of you, our fellow residents, to join us! Let’s all help make our town beautiful on Earth Day this year.
