Applications are now being accepted by Rotary District 7980 for Rotary International’s Global Grant Scholarships. These provide for a stipend of as much as $30,000 to be used for graduate-level work at a foreign university for the 2014-15 calendar year.

The candidate’s study must be in one of the following areas of focus: (1) Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution, (2) Disease Prevention and Treatment, (3) Water and Sanitation, (4) Maternal and Child Health, (5) Basic Education and Literacy, or (6) Economic and Community Development.

A successful candidate must demonstrate academic excellence, a commitment to the proposed area of study and have strong interpersonal skills. He or she must be a permanent resident of one of the four southern Connecticut counties. Others may apply for such scholarships through the Rotary District covering their places of residence.
