Letter: Rotary offers international scholarship

To the Editors:

The Wilton Rotary Club is pleased to announce that two year-long Global Grant Scholarships will be awarded by Rotary District 7980 (southern Connecticut) for the upcoming academic year. Prospective applicants should visit the district’s website, rotary7980.org, and click on the scholarship tab on the home page to find the application and more information about this opportunity. Completed applications may be sent to me at pburnham@gregory andadams.com. Most successful applicants will have already earned their bachelor’s degrees.

Rotary International has identified six areas of focus and goals:

  • Peace and conflict prevention/resolution;
  • Disease prevention and treatment;
  • Water and sanitation;
  • Maternal and child health;
  • Basic education and literacy;
  • Economic and community development.

Each applicant will select one of these areas for intensive study and, if successful, will join other students with similar interests from all over the world for collaborative work in a university setting. This is a program that has been in existence for many years, and the feedback from its alumni, some of whom live in Wilton, has been nothing but extraordinarily and universally positive.
