Letter: Lots of litter picked up
To the Editors:
On behalf of the Wilton Conservation Commission I would like to thank all of the volunteers who enthusiastically participated in the Townwide Community Cleanup day held last Saturday, March 28. Saturday brought cold and blowing snow, but a stalwart group of dedicated residents came out anyway to help get the town ready for its spring re-debut! Through everyone’s hard work, we collected a substantial amount of litter from our streets, parks and riverbanks.
I would like to particularly mention the outstanding efforts from the Cub Scouts, Wilton schools, and the Wilton Land Trust, whose volunteers joined commissioners and other town officials in this annual undertaking.
Additionally, a huge thank-you goes out to the fine folks at Pinocchio Pizza, who have supported our efforts for a few years now by providing free slices to all volunteers.
Given Saturday’s weather challenges, there is still more to be done. I would like to further encourage individuals and groups to still take the time to clean up their neighborhoods. Support for this event is proof that Wilton’s residents are proud to live in a litter-free community and are willing to get their hands dirty to keep it looking great every year.
