Letter: Library gala a success thanks to many
To the Editors:
Over 215 members of our community joined us in celebrating the Wilton Library at our annual spring fund-raiser held on April 1st. The event was a huge success, thanks to the wonderful support of our patrons, donors, committee members, volunteers, sponsors and staff. The evening was enjoyable and exciting, bringing together neighbors, friends, and local businesses who gathered for a common cause. Indeed, the library could not do what it does without the generous support of a caring community.
We were so pleased to have honored the Village Market and to acknowledge the support we have received over the years from this town institution. From helping the library with its building expansion in 2003 to the 17 years of sponsoring the library’s Summer Music & More Concerts Series, we were delighted to recognize Peter Keating, Tim Dolnier, Mike Picheco and Nancy Dolnier at the benefit.
Funds raised benefit the community by sustaining the library’s collections, programs, technology and services. Events such as this are crucial to the library’s mission. Twenty-five percent of the library’s budget has to be raised each year through essential fund-raising efforts. It is with these resources that 100% of the books, DVDs, CDs and digital services can be purchased and stocked on the shelves for patrons to borrow or download. Our thanks go out to everyone — neighbors, friends and local businesses -— for helping Wilton Library continue as the center for discovery and life learning in the heart of our community.
From start to finish, the committee was so amazingly dedicated, creative and filled with enthusiasm. Thanks to our co-chairs, Michele Nichols and Kristin Johnson, who were incredible, sharing their excitement and vision, bringing together an extraordinary team of volunteers! The committee created a fabulous evening with unique tablescapes and designs made especially for the event. We are immensely grateful to the committee for all their wonderful work in supporting the Wilton Library. We could not have done it without their help and support. Thanks to all!
