To the Editors:

Kiwanis of Wilton thanks the wonderful people of Wilton for their generosity in helping us refill the shelves of the food pantry at Comstock Community Center. Lauren Hughes of the Social Service Dept. told us the food bank was at one of the lowest levels in quite some time and she is delighted to see it well stocked once again.

“When I began working for Social Services in 1994 we were serving 10 families,” Lauren wrote. “This July we served 64 families, comprised of 71 individuals between the ages of 18 and 59, 51 children under 18 and 32 seniors (these are unduplicated counts) for a total of 154 individuals.

“The Kiwanis drives at the markets are by far the single largest collections we receive during the year.”

We set a new record with this drive for the amount of cash and gift cards we received, and amount in excess of $2,000! So, thanks to everyone who helped make it a success.
