Letter: Homeschool policy is ‘unconscionable’
To the Editors:
According to a statement attributed to a school official, Wilton has a policy in place that bars homeschooled children from participating in extracurricular activities “to discourage homeschooling.”
So our appointed officials, who are paid to provide education in the best interests of our children, are willing to punish a child because they’re certain traditional public school is right for every child? This policy is unconscionable and the Wilton Board of Education should be ashamed. Educators love to say that everything they do is in the best interests of the children, except when it’s not. I am literally mortified that I pay taxes to support this kind of behavior.
