Letter: Holiday Snowflake fundraising drive needs your help
To the Editors:
As a long-term resident of Wilton, it has been such a pleasure to drive through Wilton Center during this holiday season and enjoy some brand new, sparkling holiday cheer! What I'm talking about, of course, are the giant, three-foot wide, LED snowflakes attached to many of the lampposts in town. For those who may not know, these were the result of the Let’s Make Wilton Beautiful initiative established by a group of residents who partnered with the Wilton Garden Club. So far, most of the money to finance the snowflakes has come from friends of the group and garden club members.
The group collected enough private donations to purchase 27 snowflakes, however there are 27 more lampposts that still need snowflakes along Hubbard Street, Godfrey Place and Old Ridgefield Road, so the fund-raising effort continues. We’re appealing to all residents to make a donation, large or small, to help us meet our fund-raising goal. The snowflake vendor runs a two-for-one sale in January, so time is of the essence!
We are so fortunate to live in this beautiful village with residents who care about each other and their town. When all of the snowflakes are purchased, next year's holiday evening sky will be twice as bright!
Contributions can be made via the Garden Club’s website at wiltongardenclub.org and following the link on the home page or by sending a check payable to the “Wilton Garden Club” to P.O. Box 121, Wilton, CT 06897. All donations are tax-deductible and will be acknowledged. Thank you and happy holidays!
