Letter: Giving thanks for fabulous festive garden party

To the Editors:

On behalf of Board of Directors, I would like to thank all who attended the Festive Garden Party on Sunday, June 3rd. This sold-out event brought together volunteers, scholars past and present, as well as new and long-time supporters of A Better Chance of Wilton, for a truly memorable evening.

The evening’s planners included co-chairs Tamara Kalin and Laurie Crimmins. Together with their committee — Michelle Doggett, Carrie Preisano, Susan Resch, Elizabeth Walsh, Pam and Chris Kelley — they did an amazing job putting together a delightful experience for their guests.

Our hosts, Tamara and Steve Kalin generously provided their beautiful and blooming garden where guests were treated to fine wine and cocktails and a delicious dinner under the tent. Music was graciously and superbly provided by Chris Brubeck and his friends. Weatherman Ira Joe Fisher acted as host and humorist for the evening auction. And JP Clarke, an ABC alumni and recent Notre Dame graduate spoke of the great opportunity provided him by the ABC program.

We are also grateful to our sponsors: Indeed.com, Louis Dreyfus Company, Bookmark Cabernet Sauvignon, Underdog Chardonnay, Lobster Craft food truck and media sponsor Good Morning Wilton.

The live auction items were kindly donated by Man Group, Scott Pelley, Tamara and Steve Kalin, Marylynn and David Clune, Savor Barbeque, Lobster Craft, Big Deal, Abbey Tent and Party Rentals and Peter and Pamela Kirchof.

All proceeds of the evening will go to the ABC Wilton program which supports 14 scholars in two program-run homes. In addition to donations, the program benefits from many community volunteers who act as drivers, host families, college coaches and SAT tutors.
