Letter: Generous hearts fill the pantry

To the Editors:
A belated thank you to all the wonderful people of Wilton who made the Kiwanis December food drive a great success. With your help the pantry is now full!
As we stand outside the Wilton Market and Stop and Shop we all have some wonderful stories to share, such as the one member Dave Hapke had. Two young boys approached him as he was handing out the list of items needed and asked him what was going on. He told them about the food drive and the boys ran back to their parents’ car and later came out with a full basket for the food pantry and one little bag for their own use. It appears the parents helped give them a lesson in giving!
Then I had the lady who took the list and later came out with two bags for the pantry. When I asked her if she was forgetting her own purchases she told me that she was not going in to shop, but to visit the bank but when she saw the list she felt she should help out.
It is these and all the wonderful people who helped out that will help make happier holidays for the many families in need of our support.
