Letter: Energy Commission is FOIA-deficient
To the Editors:
You would think that by now the Energy Commission would be FOIA compliant after the comprehensive training our new town counsel Ira Bloom gave at a recent Board of Finance meeting. The fact that the co-chair of the Energy Commission, Richard Creeth, was present makes one wonder why there were missing minutes since mid-February until March 27.
Upon notification to Debra Thompson-Van that there were no minutes posted, Ms. Thompson -Van replied immediately with the Energy Commission version of the minutes. The only problem was there was no information for the public to discern. It contained only what appeared to be a repeat of the agenda for that meeting.
I am quite concerned that our Energy Commission is making decisions in a vacuum that should be public knowledge, especially when it comes to spending our tax dollars. I have noted this to our first selectman, who appears to show no concern, unfortunately.
