Letter: 27 votes is not a mandate

To the Editors:

It would be a grave mistake to proceed with a $50-million construction project that passed by a margin of only 27 votes.

Clearly there is no consensus on the Miller-Driscoll plan and such a divisive issue threatens the character of our town unless it is resolved to the satisfaction of a clear majority of its citizens.

The town should take note of the close vote and go back to the drawing board, scale back the renovation plan and propose something thousands of Wilton taxpayers can support enthusiastically.
