Candidate Statement: Michael Kaelin

Michael Kaelin, Republican,
Selectman

I ask for your vote for the Board of Selectmen because we need to do things differently to maintain our quality of life in Wilton. We cannot increase taxes to maintain our quality of life. Taxes are decreasing our quality of life. We need to take a fresh look at what we are paying for and how we pay for it. We need to work with each other, not against each other.
The greatness in our community organizations and schools does not depend upon spending more on them. The schools are great because of the students and teachers that are in them, and the parents, staff and townspeople who support them. The community organizations are great because of the countless individuals who contribute their time and talents to them.
Wilton is governed by each one of us. We are one of the last towns of our size to maintain the Town Meeting form of government where every registered voter and every property owner has the final say on how much we spend and what we spend it on. I am not running for the Board of Selectmen to govern you. I am running for the Board of Selectmen to help insure we all work together to maintain the quality of life that brought each one of us here in the first place. I ask for your vote. Thank you.
