Wilton Board of Finance recommendations

Wait, You mean the Board of Finance is really important?

The Board of Finance is probably the least well known of the important Town boards. Everyone has a good idea of the duties of the Board of Selectmen, Education and Planning. But few realize the important responsibilities of the Board of Finance. The Board is most visible during the annual budget and mill rate determination process. But they also have on going responsibilities for approving supplemental appropriations, reviewing bond proposals, and approving Town investments. In short, they are fiscal watchdogs, and members require a thorough knowledge of public, and commercial finance. And we can find no better candidates for the Board than Sandra Arkel, and Frank Bria.

Sandra is a current Board member with over 25 years of professional experience in accounting and finance. She is also a CPA and Principal Accounting Officer for Mastercard. You can’t have better financial experience than that. Frank Bria is equally qualified, and brings years of experience as an attorney in the insurance industry. He has guided companies in strategic development, and risk analysis. Both skills will be an asset to Wilton as a Board of Finance member. Both are also active volunteers for groups serving our community. Wilton is at a crossroad. The key is to develop an approach that maintains town character, and excellent schools while managing smart growth that helps grow the tax base. Sandra, and Franks are both highly qualified to help Wilton move into the future.
