William R. Jester (Bill), a longtime resident of New Canaan and member of Wilton Presbyterian Church, died at his home near Wyoming, Del., on Sunday, Nov. 25.

He was born in Harrington, Del., on Sept. 17, 1926 to William E. and Bessie Jester.

Mr. Jester served in the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific during WWII. He graduated from Washington College in Chestertown, Md., in 1950 and later earned his MBA from Drexel University in Philadelphia. He worked for the International Playtex Corporation from 1950 to 1986, retiring as chief financial officer. He and his son Michael then owned and managed United Sleep Products, a bedding manufacturing business in Denver, Pa. His interests included golf and pool. He and his wife Donna also enjoyed hiking, skiing and travel.

Mr. Jester is survived by his wife Donna, sons Richard (Jacki), Clay (Ann), and Michael; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and Mrs. Jester's three adult children. He was preceded in death by his first wife Charlotte, and brothers Robert and Donald.

Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1, at the Presbyterian Church of Dover, 54 South State Street. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Delaware Hospice or a charity of the donor's choice.
