Wilfred Perez, a retired architectural draftsman, died suddenly on Tuesday Sept. 11, 2012 while vacationing in Nantucket, Mass.

Mr. Perez was born June 27, 1941 in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, the son of Nicholas and Natividad Montes. He traveled the world while proudly serving in the U.S. Marines from 1963 to 1969. On April 19, 1980 he married Nancy E. Bellows. She survives him at home.

Mr. Perez retired in 2002 after working in the architectural draftsman and precision tool fields. He began his career at The Rockefeller University, in New York City, where he met his wife. In 2006 and 2007, he worked as a project manager for the town of Wilton on the Veterans Memorial Football Stadium project at Wilton High School.

"Will took great joy in helping others, had a passion for Latin music, and loved exercising and tinkering in his workshop," his family said. A Wilton resident for 22 years, he adored his family and two pugs.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Christopher W. of Boston, Mass.; Gregory M. of London, England; and Brandon W. of Florida; five brothers and sisters, several brothers- and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, Sept. 14, at Hoyt Funeral Home, 199 Main Street, New Canaan, from 4 to 7. Services will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 1, at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, 5 Oenoke Ridge in New Canaan. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, 165 Ridgefield Road in Wilton.
