Vincent J. Cardone, 72, of New Canaan, CT and formerly of Wilton, CT passed away on November 28 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Vincent was born on July 12, 1941 in Brooklyn, NY to the late Secondo and Josephine Razzano Cardone.

From a very young age Vincent loved and was fascinated by the weather. He graduated with his Ph.D. in Meteorology and Oceanography in 1970 from New York University and began his career as Research Scientist and Professor of Meteorology at New York University and then City College of New York before co-founding and becoming President of Oceanweather Inc. in 1977. Vincent was the author or co-author of over 60 papers, including over 20 papers in refereed journals. He received numerous awards including the New York University Founders Day Award, the Oceanology02 Lifetime Achievement Award, and was a Fellow of the American Meteorological Society.

In addition to all his professional accomplishments Vincent loved and was devoted to his family. He married Sandra, the love of his life, over 45 years ago.

Vincent’s many wonderful qualities — his ability to analyze complex problems and issues, his generosity toward his clients, colleagues, friends and family, his kindness and sensitivity toward people and animals, and his natural curiosity for so many different topics (music, baseball, travel and cars to name a few) — all played a major role in his success in life.

In addition to his wife, Vincent is survived by two daughters, Michelle Cardone and her husband Brian Olson of Cos Cob, CT and Alissa Cardone and her husband Jeff Cleary of Boston, MA. Also surviving are four brothers, Albert of New Canaan, CT; Fred of Cooper City, FL; Arthur of Sag Harbor, NY and Joseph of Chicago, IL and grandchildren Josephine, Evangeline, Vincent and Isaac. He is greatly missed by his family.

A Memorial Service was held on Monday, December 2nd at St. Aloysius Church, New Canaan, CT.
