Patricia Walsh Reed, a 44-year resident of Wilton, died suddenly in her home on Sept. 5, 2012. She was born on June 27, 1932 in the Bronx, New York and was the daughter of Thomas C. and Margaret (Hassett) Walsh. She was predeceased by her two brothers, John Thomas and Martin Blake Walsh.

Patricia graduated from the Katherine Gibbs School, the New York School of Interior Design and attended Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, CT. She was employed by Royal Dutch Petroleum, Pan American Airlines; assigned to the office of CEO Juan Trippe. She was a retired interior designer having been employed the W&J Sloane Furniture Company, Federated Department Stores and Ethan Allen Furniture. She was the co-founder and partner of Canine Training and Behavior Services, LLC, with her daughter, Margaret. She was also a Connecticut licensed Realtor.

Her accomplishments were many. In 1952, she was crowned "Miss New York" in the Miss America competition. Patricia was a President of the New York Young Republicans and was appointed by then Vice President Richard M. Nixon to attend the Republican National Convention.

She was a member of the Greenwich Kennel Club serving as the Club's delegate, the Historian for the Pekingese Club of America, and the Founders Hall in Ridgefield. She was an avid dog show enthusiast and was the co-breeder of several American Kennel Club Champions, with several winning awards at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club. She was a dedicated Yankees fan and enjoyed a good ball game.

Pat enjoyed Cape Cod, boiled lobsters, challenging crossword puzzles, a good book and spending time with her family. She was the light of our lives, a mother, grandmother, sister and aunt who taught us by example and with passion what it means to live a faith-driven life of love and service to others.

Survivors include her two loving daughters, Dr. Margaret A. Reed, her partner, (Patti Fernandes), Frances Reed Jelinske and her husband (Mark) of Arvada, CO; two cherished grandsons, Robert Jeffrey Jelinske and Daniel Reed Jelinske and her beloved canine companion, Mya. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church in Wilton, CT.

A celebration of life will be held on Sept. 18, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Wilton, CT.
