Obituary: John V. Healy, 88

John V. Healy of New Port Richey, Fla., passed away Thursday, April 8, 2016. He died peacefully with family at his bedside. Smilin’ Jack, as he was known by his friends, was 88 years young. He was born in the Bronx, New York City and graduated from Cardinal Hayes Catholic High School in 1945 and then served in the Army Air Corps and the United States Air Force.
He married the former Lorraine J. Regan in 1948. He worked for the former Emery Air Freight for 31 years, with global responsibilities as senior vice president and general manager when he left after 31 years. He went on to hold several other executive transportation company positions until he retired to New Port Richey in 1992. His work career moved him about the country often.

John built the family home on Ryders Lane in Wilton in 1973. He was a devoted Catholic and a member of the Knights of Columbus at Our Lady of Fatima in Wilton and St. Thomas Aquinas in New Port Richey where he and his beloved Lorraine retired in 1992.

Above all else he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He cared deeply about his family and his friends, and spared none with his 1,000-watt smile that now shines on us all from Heaven.

John was preceded in death by his father Jerimiah, mother Mary and siblings Kathleen, Gerald, Daniel, Eileen and Margaret. He is survived by his sister Veronica Windishman (Joe) and his eight children: Chris Healy (Gail) of Ann Arbor, Mich.; Jean Cuviello (Brian) of Santa Fe, N.M.; Terry Healy (Danielle) of Springville, Calif; Stephen Healy of Redding; Margaret Corchran (Chris) of Humble,Texas; Patricia Sabatino of Newburg, N.Y.; John J. Healy (Amy) of San Jose, Calif. and Brendan Healy (Lisa) of Daytona Beach, Fla.; 17 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. John was laid to rest Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Trinity Memorial Gardens in Trinity, Fla. A Catholic Mass was celebrated at St. Thomas Aquinas in New Port Richey.
