He and his wife met some of their dearest friends on the 18 cycling trips they took to various parts of Europe, Argentina, New Zealand and South Africa. Fred supported Guiding Eyes for the Blind in Yorktown Heights, N.Y., by socializing future guide dog puppies and working at the annual golf tournament for blind golfers.
