Alfred Rood Butler, 65, passed away peacefully at home in Wilton, Conn., on June 24, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.
Fred was born in Manchester, Conn., graduated from Eastern Connecticut State University and served as a member of the Army National Guard. He made a career in the insurance industry for 43 years and was a partner in Pierson & Smith Agency, which was recently acquired by First Niagara. His passions were golf, scouting, and singing, with both the Wilton Singers and church choirs.

Fred was passionate about his family and deeply committed to his wife of 43 years, Tina (Twomey) Butler. They married in 1973 and together raised two children, Andrew Butler and Erica Butler and lovingly welcomed their partners Marielle Butler and Catherine Lomauro. He will also be missed by his grandchildren Morgane, Savannah, and Jeremiah Butler, his siblings Barbara Allison and David Butler, and his father’s second wife Adeline Butler.

He was predeceased by his parents Charles Dwelley Butler and Evelyn Rood Butler.

Relatives and friends are welcome at Bouton Funeral Home, 31 West Church Street in Georgetown, Conn., on Monday, June 27, from 4 to 8 p.m. A service will be held at the Wilton Baptist Church, 254 Danbury Road, Wilton, on Tuesday, June 28, at 11 a.m.  Burial will be private at a later date.
