Norman Svenson, a former Redding resident, died on Sunday, Oct. 27, after a brief illness at the Lakeland Regional Medical Center in Lakeland, Fla. He was 59.

He was born on March 31, 1954, in Norwalk Hospital, the son of Helge and Dorothy Svenson of Wilridge Road, Wilton. He was a 1972 graduate of Wilton High School and a former member of the Georgetown Volunteer Fire Department. His work consisted of all phases of construction. He lived on Portland Hill in Redding for several years in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

He was predeceased by his wife, Barbara Daniels Svenson, in 2012.

Besides his parents, he is survived by two bothers, Gary and his wife, Karen, of Oxford, and Mark and his wife, Laura, of Georgetown; three children, Brett and Jessica of Tallahassee, Fla., and Dana of Seattle, Wash.; three grandchildren, Aiden, Lily and Trent, and two step-grandchildren, Levonna and Brandon Wright, all of Tallahassee; 10 nieces and nephews; and his first wife, Jennifer Darby King, mother of his three children.

A memorial service will take place in the spring.
