Audrey Cragan, 95, of Shrewsbury, Mass., died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012 in the Jewish Rehabilitation Center in Worcester. She was 95.

She was the wife of the late Stephen E. Cragan, who died in 2001.

Born Feb. 5, 1917 in Worcester, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Emma (Mullen) Ritzi.

She was a 1934 graduate of North High School in Worcester and the Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1938. She worked as a surgical nurse at Memorial Hospital in Worcester from 1938 to 1945. After raising her family she returned to Memorial Hospital in 1964, eventually becoming a head nurse before retiring in 1981.

She was a member of several professional nursing associations including the Memorial Hospital Nursing School Alumni Association.

She is survived by five children and their spouses: Stephen E. Cragan Jr. and his wife Kathleen of Wilton; Peter J. Cragan and his wife Katherine of North Attleboro, Mass.; Claudia Holland and her husband Thomas of Paxton, Mass.; Mark J. Cragan and his wife Brooke of Carlisle, Mass.; and Andrea Berg and her husband Joel of Wilmington, Vt.; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was grandmother of the late Wyatt B. Cragan and sister of the late Earl Ritzi.

A Mass of Christian Burial was said Sept. 8, at St. Mary's Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial was at St. John's Cemetery, Worcester.
