Wilton budget, capital projects pass
With an 18% voter turnout, Wilton’s combined municipal and school budget totaling $125,488,107 for fiscal year 2017 was passed after voting on Tuesday, May 3, and Saturday, May 7. Both capital projects were passed as well.
The vote was 1,181 to approve; 888 no, too high; 36 no, too low.
The schools budget will be $80.6 million. The municipal budget will be $32.2 million.
The request of $1.8 million for road restoration was passed 1,636 yes; 452 no.
The question of $650,000 to replace the crumb rubber football field at Wilton High School with organic turf was passed 1,200 yes; 891 no.
The combined budget represents a 1% increase over fiscal year 2016.
The mill rate will be 27.3371, an increase of 1.89% over the current rate of 26.83.
