There were two new appointments and one reappointment made at the Feb. 16 meeting of the Board of Selectmen.
Frank Simone was reappointed to the Conservation Commission. Gretchen Jeanes was appointed to the Miller- Driscoll Building Committee.
Ron Hitter, a past president of the Wilton Volunteer Ambulance Corps, was appointed to the Fire Station No. 2 Building Committee. In an earlier selectmen’s meeting, Selectman Michael Kaelin had insisted that someone affiliated with the ambulance corps be appointed to that committee, so that use of Fire Station No. 2 by the corps can be explored.
Selectman Dick Dubow said he would need to abstain from voting for the appointments of Jeanes and Hitter because he had not interviewed them himself.
He did, however, vote to reappoint Simone. “I’ve known Frank for many years,” Dubow said, “and he has served the town extraordinarily well, and I’m very comfortable with his reappointment.”
“The two candidates that we interviewed this evening are very well qualified, and I would support them,” Selectman Lori Bufano said.
Kaelin moved to appoint Jeanes and Hitter, and Bufano seconded. The vote was 3-0-1, Dubow abstaining.
Dubow then moved to reappoint Simone, was seconded by Bufano, and the selectmen voted all-in-favor.
