With a winter weather advisory in effect from 1 this afternoon, Feb. 23, to 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, Wilton schools will have an early dismissal.

Wilton High, Middlebrook and Our Lady of Fatima will dismiss at 10:30, Cider Mill at 11:30 and Miller-Driscoll at 12:30.

The National Weather Service is forecasting a wintry mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain for northern Fairfield County. Up to one inch of snow is expected along with one-tenth of an inch of ice.

Snow is expected mainly after 1 this afternoon. The high will be near 38. A combination of rain and snow is expected this evening before 9, then rain and sleet between 9 and midnight, turning to rain after midnight. The low will be around 33. There will be a northeast wind of 10 to 14 mph.

Rain will continue Wednesday — between one-quarter and one-half inch is possible. Thunderstorms could develop Wednesday night, producing heavy rainfall. Temperatures are expected to rise to around 49.

Rain is likely again on Thursday morning, tapering off to showers and then mostly cloudy skies.
