Wilton students present at biology symposium
Seven Wilton High School students presented their biology research findings at the Earthplace Regional Student Symposium on Thursday, Dec. 10.
Seniors Griffin King, Celine Orabi and Catherine Sanna presented an overview of the impact of recent changes in dissolved oxygen and temperature on the population of winter flounder in Norwalk Harbor.
The three Wilton High School Marine Biology Club members have been conducting the research for three years under the guidance of Earthplace staff member, biology teacher and research coordinator Suzanne Steadham.
Juniors Emma Helman, Vedika Karandikar and Kyle Rubin Nash presented 2015 data on juvenile flounder numbers and growth patterns, and senior Luke Bingaman presented his research on the water chemistry of the Indian River in Westport.
Earthplace is a Westport-based nonprofit organization and nature discovery center.
