Three recently graduated high school students completed a spring internship at the Norwalk Land Trust.
While the internship was established to enhance interest among students in science education, the regular volunteers learned skills from the students, including how to increase communication and use social media like Facebook.

“It was a great two-way connection,” said John Moeling, land trust president.

The students are Sarah Fitzgerald, 18, and Katrina Trentos, 17, of Wilton High School and Lauren Rutledge, 17, of Darien High School. Fitzgerald is bound for the University to Denver to study anthropology, Trentos to Trinity College in Hartford and Rutledge to Georgetown.

They helped guide field trips to the Farm Creek Nature Preserve for 980 fourth-grade students, and picked up trash and cleared invasive plants at Farm Creek, the White Barn Preserve and Hoyt Island.
