Carri Vickrey, a second grade reading teacher at Miller-Driscoll, was recently chosen to join the 2016 Scholastic Reading Club Teacher Advisory Board, a diverse group of teachers from across the country who work with editors and marketers to improve the quality, relevance and value of Scholastic’s materials and services.
Last weekend, she and 28 other teacher advisors visited the company’s headquarters in New York to share perspectives on literacy in the classroom and the latest trends in education, exchange favorite titles and curriculum applications with colleagues and staff, and participate in focus groups.
During the focus groups, Vickery passed along the comments of her students in response to manuscripts being considered for publication.
