Wilton resident Will Haljun, right, and fellow sixth graders Grant Vogel, left, and Sam Pakman, center, won the third annual Middle School Mystery Box Challenge during St. Luke’s School’s homecoming celebration the weekend of Oct. 21. The challenge required students to build not only the tallest tower out of plastic straws, but one that could also support a tennis ball for 30 seconds. Will and his team won with a 173-centimeter-tall tower. St. Luke’s is a private day school in New Canaan. Information: stlukesct.org. — Desiree Smock photo
