Not only has Middlebrook School been collecting toys for this year’s Toys for Tots drive, but its student council also raised $650 to purchase even more gifts to donate.

Toys for Tots is a United States Marine Corps program, established in 1947, through which toys are collected and distributed to less-fortunate children for Christmas.

After noticing that donation boxes weren’t very full, Middlebrook Student Council adviser Marni Kiernan told The Bulletin, the Middlebrook Student Council decided to hold bake sales so that toys could be purchased and donated.

The bake sales were held at the Village Market on Tuesday, Dec. 11, and Wednesday, Dec. 12.

“The results were awesome,” said Kiernan. “Thanks to the generosity of shoppers, we raised $650.”

With the money raised, Kiernan said she was able to purchase two shopping carts full of toys.
