Cider Mill classrooms adopt a local family, anonymously each year, collects a variety of food and gift items for them for several weeks, and put the items in decorated boxes and bags. Turkey Trot funds are used to purchase grocery gift cards for each family. The parks and recreation staff deliver the goods to families, with 45 families receiving heaps of holiday goodies, gift cards, and gifts to ease their financial burden over the holidays. This holiday project has been a local tradition of giving for more than 20 years now. Seeing off the packages are, from left, Nate Newcomer, Cider Mill student; Colleen Fawcett, Youth Services coordinator; Liz Johnson, Cider Mill student; and Pauline Monteleone, Cider Mill guidance secretary.
