The Wilton Education Foundation’s eighth annual Reading Rocks! program will kick off Friday, Jan. 4, at Miller-Driscoll and Cider Mill schools.

All pre-K through fifth-grade students are invited to participate in the noncompetitive read-a-thon, which encourages children to have fun reading while raising money for the foundation, which uses the funds to give back to Wilton’s public schools.

Within the first seven years of the program, Reading Rocks! raised more than $275,000, which helped fund things like SMART Boards, Middlebrook School’s greenhouse, Miller-Driscoll’s TV/recording studio, and professional development for teachers.

Registration and pledge forms went out and became available online Dec. 21. Forms and money will be due Jan. 18. On that day, students will dress up like rock stars for Dress Like A Rock Star Day. Reading begins Jan. 19, and ends Feb. 2.

This year’s program is once again chaired by Jennifer Carvajal and Kiki Cross.
