Middlebrook eighth grader Alexander Koutsoukos and sixth grader Anjo Therattil each placed third in their respective divisions in the National History Bee’s Bridgeport Regional Finals competition.

The National History Bee is a three-stage academic competition for elementary and middle school students that tests their knowledge of historical topics.

The competition begins with an optional Intramural Bee and a mandatory qualifying exam. The top students from the qualifying exam go on to compete in Regional Finals, and the top regional finishers are eligible to advance to the National Finals and compete for the title of National History Bee Champion.

Alexander was among the top eight students in the eighth grade division of the Bridgeport Regional Finals competition, and Anjo was among the top eight in the elementary division.

The National Finals will take place during 2016 National History Fair in Chicago next month.
