Following Newtown shooting police are stationed at every school in Wilton 'as a precaution'
Update: 12:35 p.m. — Wilton Police Chief Michael Lombardo confirmed this afternoon there is a police officer at every school in town. He emphasized this is a precautionary measure, following the school shooting in Newtown.
"We have no information" about any incidents or threats affecting Wilton, he said. "We have to to be proactive."
Friday: 11:54 a.m. — There was a shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown Friday, Dec. 14. While Newtown and nearby districts are on "lockdown," Wilton schools are operating on a normal schedule.
Contradictory information is currently circulating the Web regarding the number of casualties and status of the situation.
Reports on the number of shooters range from one, who was reportedly killed, and vary generally from two to three.
