The typical Super Bowl hype took on a different look at Cider Mill School earlier this month when students collected more than 1,5000 non-perishable food and personal care items for the Wilton Interfaith Food Pantry during the school’s first-ever Souper Bowl.

Over a two-week period, students brought in donations, with each counting as a vote for their favorite team — the Philadelphia Eagles or New England Patriots. Students were encouraged to vote early and vote often.

Donations were checked in each morning, and each afternoon featured an announcement telling the students which team was leading the voting.

Like in this year’s Super Bowl, the Eagles ended up winning in Cider Mill’s Souper Bowl student voting.

Wilton Social Services sent a truck last Friday to pick up the donations and bring them up to the food pantry at Comstock Community Center.
