The seventh annual Holiday Card Contest, sponsored by The Greens at Cannondale and Wilton Meadows Rehabilitation and Health Care Center, is open to Wilton High School art students in their senior year. Victoria Thorogood is the 2013 winner.

Her entry, a photograph of Ambler Farm in the winter, will be the front of the card and her name as artist will appear on the back. The card is mailed to hundreds of families and businesses in the area and beyond. Victoria will also be awarded a $1,000 scholarship for further art studies.

This is one of the many intergenerational activities that flourish at The Greens and Wilton Meadows for the enjoyment of residents. Of the many excellent entries this year, residents chose Victoria’s photograph of Ambler Farm on a snowy day. It fulfilled all the contest requirements in that it was non-religious, original and had a seasonal theme.

Former winners of the holiday card contest are continuing their involvement with different aspects of art as a career or a hobby. Rusty Hurd, head of the high school art department, directs the contest at the school.

Victoria said, “I live right across from Ambler Farm, and during a snowstorm, I went out and took a picture of it. I’d love to have a career as a photographer.”

Born in England, she has lived in Boston and Switzerland and came to Wilton when she was in seventh grade. “I love Wilton,” she said, “and I’m thrilled about having my work on this year’s card.”
