Wilton schools delayed two hours, more snow perhaps Tuesday

Due to snow, Wilton schools will be on a two-hour delay this morning, March 2.

The Wilton Family Y is open but due to the delayed school opening, all program classes before noon are canceled, including classes held at the gymnastics center. All group fitness classes before 11 are canceled. Nursery School and morning Creative 2’s begin at 10:30. Babysitting will open at 10:30 unless the staff can get in earlier. A decision on all afternoon programs will be made by noon.

Metro-North reports good service on the New Haven and Danbury Branch Lines.

Eversource, formerly CL&P, reports no power outages in Wilton.

Snow totals in the region range from five inches in Danbury and New Canaan to seven inches in Darien, the highest in the state, according to the state Department of Transportation.

At 5:30 this morning, the temperature was 25 and the forecast was for clouds eventually giving way to sun, with a high of 33. Tonight will be mostly clear with a low around 12.

There will be a chance of snow Tuesday afternoon, but Tuesday night will bring a mixture of snow, sleet and freezing rain, with about one to two inches of snow, along with some icing, possible.
