WILTON STORM: From 4 to 8 inches of snow possible late Sunday into Monday

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Winter Storm Watch for northern Fairfield County, and a more severe Winter Storm Warning for the northern part of Connecticut.  The Winter Storm Watch is in effect from late Sunday night to Monday night, with the NWS saying 4 to 8 inches snow plus a thin layer of ice could fall during that time period in northern Fairfield County as well as northern New Haven County.  The precipitation will begin as a mix of snow and freezing rain on Sunday afternoon, then change to all snow and pick up in intensity at night.  Northern parts of Connecticut — such as Lichfield and Hartford counties — could see 9 to 18 inches, from early Sunday afternoon into late Monday, according to the NWS.

According to the National Weather Service, there could be a mix of snow and rain after 9 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 8, continuing throughout the day before changing to snow, rain and sleet Sunday night. Accumulation of one to two inches possible. The low will be around 24 Sunday night.

Monday morning will bring snow, changing to snow, freezing rain and sleet in the afternoon. Another one to three inches is forecast. Snow, sleet and freezing rain will taper off in the evening.
