Storm 'nicked the ear of Wilton'

In a Code Red message to residents Tuesday morning, First Selectman Bill Brennan said the town “lucked out” regarding the storm that dropped six to eight inches of snow since Monday.

“It nicked the ear of Wilton,” he said, but the town sustained no major damage.

As of 11 a.m. there have been no power outages, no fire or ambulance calls and only two minor car accidents.

Town hall offices are closed today, but will reopen Wednesday.

The Department of Public Works “plowed all night” and continues to do so, but roads are still slippery. Town officials are asking residents to stay home so the trucks can continue to plow and sand.

He also asked residents who live near fire hydrants to shovel them out, leaving a three-foot clearance.
