Friday snow: school delays, Y cancellations, wind advisory

Snow Friday morning, Jan. 30, is causing a slow start for schools. Wilton public schools are on a two-hour delay.

Due to the school delay, all classes at the Wilton Family Y before noon are canceled. This includes c;asses held at the gymnastics center. All group fitness classes before 11 are canceled. Nursery school and morning Creative 2s begin at 10:30. Babysitting will open at 10:30 unless staff can get in earlier. A decision on all other Y afternoon programs will be made by noon.

Metro-North reports good service on both the Danbury branch and New Haven lines.

There are no power outages reported in Wilton or the rest of Fairfield County.

The National Weather Service is forecasting an inch or less for Wilton however a wind advisory is in effect through 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan.31 and a wind chill advisory is in effect until noon Saturday.

Winds could be as high as 15 to 25 mph from the northwest, with gusts up to 45 or 50 mph.

Temperatures tonight could dip into the single digits, creating wind chills as low as -15 to -20 degrees.
