Corruption task force is formed for Connecticut

U.S. attorney for Connecticut Deirdre Daly and other federal officials Wednesday announced a new public corruption task force to investigate corrupt public officials, the misuse of public funds and related criminal activity.

Ms. Daly said it’s the first time in Connecticut several federal agencies have been brought together in a single corruption investigative unit.

She said the task force will focus not only on rooting out corrupt elected officials, but also federal, state and municipal employees who use their position for personal gain.

The task force has been at work for several months and has several investigations ongoing, she said, including the recent arrest of the former finance director of the town of Plymouth, who is alleged to have embezzled more than $800,000 from the town.
