Former seventh grade Middlebrook teacher Dr. Timothy Leonard \u2014 charged with risk of injury to child and fourth-degree sexual assault \u2014 had a pre-trial hearing at Bridgeport Superior Court on Tuesday, Sept. 15. He has a disposition hearing scheduled for Oct. 20.The Bulletin received notice of Leonard\u2019s hearings through the Connecticut Statewide Automated Victim Information and Notification Program.Before being statutorily sealed, Leonard\u2019s court files listed not guilty pleas on charges of risk of injury to child, a class C felony; and fourth-degree sexual assault, a class A misdemeanor.Leonard is represented by an attorney from Maya Murphy, P.C., which has an office in Westport. His attorney could not be reached for comment.Leonard was arrested the evening of Feb. 10, when Trumbull police found him with a 14-year-old boy in a Jeep Cherokee in a parking lot on Quarry Road.Police said during the course of speaking to the pair, it was determined they had engaged in intimate contact while parked in the vehicle.Leonard told police he met the teen through an online dating app and that he likes college-aged boys. He denied knowing the victim was 14 and said he would not have gotten involved with him if he had known his age.Leonard was released after posting a $10,000 bond.Leonard, who also taught at Sacred Heart University, was a teacher at Middlebrook School from 1996 to 2006 and from 2010 until his resignation on June 30 of this year.Following Leonard\u2019s arrest, the Wilton Public School District launched an independent investigation. Dr. Smith told The Bulletin on Monday that the district is currently \u201cwaiting to hear more from the prosecutor.\u201dLeonard\u2019s disposition hearing will take place in the GA 02 Courthouse at 172 Golden Hill Street, Bridgeport.
