James Burleson, 39, of 7 Whitewood Lane, was arrested Wednesday, Oct. 2, at his home after he threatened to use violence against a police officer. Police responded to the home of Mr. Burleson after he reported his 2000 Subaru Legacy stolen. During an interview with police about the stolen vehicle, the accused became agitated, and reportedly told police “you stole my guns in 2004, and you’re not going to get away with it. I should just shoot you.” Though the Wilton police have had previous involvement with Mr. Burleson, Lt. Don Wakeman was not aware of any specific incident between his department and the accused in 2004. Following the arrest, Wilton police were granted a Firearms Risk Warrant, which was executed at the home of Mr. Burleson. This kind of warrant allows police to perform a search for guns in a suspect's residence. Police found no firearms at the home. The investigation into Mr. Burleson’s allegedly stolen car was ended after the vehicle was located in Danbury. Due to the suspect’s lack of cooperation with police, a full investigation could not be conducted. The accused was released on $10,000 bond, and is expected in Norwalk Superior Court on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
