Tori Lynn Alvarez, a 20-year-old Danbury woman, is facing increased charges related to a jewelry theft that took place on Olmstead Hill Road in January 2013.

She was arrested by WIlton detectives on a third degree burglary charge Tuesday afternoon, May 28 at the Maron Hotel in Danbury.

Ms. Alvarez was previously charged with third degree larceny, but following her initial arrest, Wilton detectives said they gained information which allowed them to apply for another arrest warrant for the charge of burglary.

Both charges arise from an incident in which Ms. Alvarez is alleged to have stolen items of jewelry from a home on Olmstead Hill Road. Police said she was in a relationship with a member of the victim’s household at the time of the theft and targeted the home because she knew the homeowners would be away. Police investigated the theft in January.

During the course of that investigation, stolen items were discovered at a pawn shop in Danbury.

Ms. Alvarez was taken into custody without incident, and was released on a $10,000 bond. She has a June 7 court date. Danbury police assisted with the arrest.
