Wilton Selectman Hoffstatter ticketed for pot possession

Selectman Edward “Ted” Hoffstatter was cited on Sunday, Oct. 6 for possession of marijuana, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia by Ridgefield police.

At approximately 7:55 p.m., a Ridgefield officer observed Mr. Hoffstatter exiting his vehicle at the Ridgefield Playhouse after “lighting something in his mouth.” Further investigation revealed he was in possession of marijuana.

Mr. Hoffstatter was issued an infraction ticket for $286, and is expected to pay the fine by Tuesday, Oct. 22.

“I paid the ticket, and I apologize for the indiscretion,” he said in an email to The Bulletin.

In addition to representing Wilton on the Board of Selectmen, Mr. Hoffstatter works as a substitute teacher while pursuing a master’s degree in counseling. He also works as an actor.
