Stopping him for a traffic violation, Monroe police on Feb. 27 took custody of a Bridgeport man wanted by the Wilton Police Department and brought him to Wilton police headquarters around 11 p.m.

Franckes Gomes-Leandro, 27, of 40 Lorraine Street, Bridgeport, was wanted for a July 2015 incident. Police said he took a check from a home where he had been working as a contractor, forged it for $4,300, and cashed it at a bank in Bridgeport.

Gomes-Leandro was processed on the charges of third-degree larceny, third-degree forgery, and third-degree identity theft.

He posted a $4,500 cash bond and was released. His court date is March 7 at Norwalk Superior Court.
