On Jan. 6 around 10 a.m., police stopped a 1999 Mercedes- Benz E320 station wagon traveling southbound on Danbury Road near Wilton Hills. The officer found that the driver, Jordan D. Welch, 48, of 135 Lamson Street, West Haven, was driving under a license suspension. The stop was initiated because two of the car’s three brake lamps were out.
Further investigation revealed that Welch had had his license suspended on multiple occasions, dating back to 1998, police said.
Making a “judgement call,” police took Welch into custody and released him on $1,000 surety to ensure his appearance at Norwalk Superior Court on Jan. 19. He was charged with operating a motor vehicle while license is suspended and failure to have working stop lamps.
